Nowadays everyone is talking about sustainability. However long before it used to be „in“ to take care of our environment and resources, the right actions had been implemented and have been practiced ever since at Das Triest.
From the beginning on head chef Josef Neuherz was very keen on finding regional and seasonal products. Therefore, the menu at BISTRO PORTO changes regularly.
Freshwater fish are delivered by the fish farm of his trust – Gut Dornau, only 30 km from Vienna. At Gut Dornau everyday is produced only what is necessary and therefore food waste is avoided.
At the breakfast buffet our guests will be treated with homemade jam and Lyly’s honey from Burgenland area and herewith support local businesses.
Not only in Burgenland we create beautiful homes for bees. Das Triest with its lovely green gardens full of lavender, ivy and many other plants attracts lots of bees and other insects. Who would have thought about that in the middle of a big city? Talking about a central location. The hotel offers great public connection and therefore makes it so easy to reach. And as we all know, our environment loves public transportation.
When expanding the hotel in 2018 a modernising insulation of the building had been undertaken. Now Das Triest saves 75,54 tons of CO2 every year. Also, we decided to go without plastic bags, plastic straws, and plastic bottles. Instead we are recycling waste and using our resources carefully. That is why we are gladly changing your towels when you give us a sign (towels on the floor) to do so. In case you put the towels back on the rack our planet will be full of joy.
A big part of our culinary offer comes directly from our neighbour country Italy, which translates into short transportation, less CO2 and small family businesses that are supported by the hotel. At our delicatessen shop ALIMENTARI you have the possibility to shop delicious Italian delicacies for your home. Together with Too Good To Go we are saving finest products at the ALIMENTARI and reduce food waste.
Tips from General Manager Oliver Dzijan
"With so much good in our environment there is some time we should invest in our well-being. So how would it be to take a sip from our sparkling drinks at our beautiful inner countryard or next to the fireplace to flourish your soul.”
